Paramount is an American film and television studio production company. Paramount is one of the top 6 film studios in Hollywood’s and is a member of the Motion Picture Association of America. It is the fifth oldest surviving film studio in the world and the second oldest surviving film studio in the United States.

Image result for airplane filmParamount was founded by W.W. Hodkinson, Adolf Zukor and Jesse L. Lasky on May 8th, 1912. W.W. Hodkison bought and merged several smaller firms to create Paramount. It was the first successful nationwide distributor.

In 1916, Zukor created a three-way merger of his company Famous Players, the Lasky Company and Paramount. They merged the three companies into one.

Image result for ghost posterThe company successfully ran films including ‘Airplane!’ and ‘Fatal Attraction’ and ‘Ghost’.  Paramount mainly produce comedy films but when it was combined with DreamWorks its main genre was Family.

Paramount combined with DreamWorks in December 11th 2005, in a deal worth $1.6 billion. The CEO said that it was enhancing Paramount as it restores Paramount as a leader in film entertainment. However in October, 6th 2008, DreamWorks announced that they were relaunching an independent DreamWorks.

Paramount now has its own Park and Resort.
